The global scare over mpox refuses to wither away as there’s fear that we may be in for another pandemic like COVID-19, although the situation hasn’t reached the stage yet where panic buttons need to be pressed.
Closer home, there’s been mpox scare in India with a suspected patient admitted to AIIMS in Delhi. Following this, Delhi was put on high alert.
This patient had returned from a trip abroad. According to reports, the patient was segregated and placed in the AIIMS AB-7 unit after exhibiting symptoms similar to monkeypox.
Nonetheless, the hospital administration has declared that the patient is now being monitored by physicians and that monkeypox has not yet been confirmed in them.
Significantly, amid a worldwide panic over the disease’s growth in India, the Delhi AIIMS released guidelines for treating patients with monkeypox symptoms.
