As the first and only Indian university in Qatar, it was a momentous occasion for the MIE-SPPU Institute of Higher Education, as it officially commenced a new academic semester and welcomed a fresh batch of students to its campus.
As an overseas extension of the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), one of India’s top-ranked universities, MIE-SPPU offers a diverse range of undergraduate programmes, including BCom, BBA, BSc and BA, as well as an Executive MBA programme tailored for working professionals.
The commencement of the semester, on its campus in Doha, marks a significant moment for the institution, as it prepares to integrate new students through its Freshman Orientation Programme, which is slated to begin on September 10, 2024.
The orientation is designed to help first-year students acclimatise to university life, understand academic expectations, and become familiar with the resources and opportunities available on campus.
Expressing his delight on the new academic year, Yasir Nainar, president of MIE-SPPU Institute of Higher Education, said: “We are thrilled to welcome both our new and returning students to the MIE-SPPU community.
“Our goal is to provide a nurturing environment that promotes both academic success and personal growth. The Freshman Orientation is an essential part of this process, ensuring that our students feel supported and ready to make the most of their educational journey.”
Echoing this sentiment, Dr B B Nath, director of MIE-SPPU Institute of Higher Education, stressed the importance of fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. “Our orientation programme is a wonderful opportunity for new students to connect with their peers, meet faculty members, and get a sense of the vibrant campus life at MIE-SPPU. We are committed to helping our students succeed in all aspects of their university experience, from academics to extracurricular activities,” he said.
