This year, Aerowin made her debut in Tinkle, India’s most popular children’s magazine

Pollution remains one of the key challenges we have been facing over the past decades. Now, we have India’s first pollution superhero, Aerowin, all geared up to take up the cudgels on our behalf, as she made her debut in Tinkle, India’s popular children’s magazine. Aerowin’s stories in Tinkle will not only help children to fight the sources of pollution but also turn them into agents of change by guiding adults on ways to eliminate air pollution.

Air pollution as we all know, negatively impacts children’s health across the world – adversely impacting our children’s learning, health, and overall well-being. Children are particularly vulnerable to the health hazards of air pollution since they have a faster breathing rate compared to adults, and their smaller bodies result in a proportionately greater air-pollutant intake.

Children suffer the most

While children contribute the least to pollution, they suffer the most because of the sheer negligence of adults towards the increasing air pollution in nature.

According to a Press release, Otrivin Breathe Clean with their agency partner GREY group India recognised the real sufferers of air pollution and gave them a platform to take matters into their own hands to combat air pollution through the launch of the superhero, Aerowin at Comic Con, India’s biggest celebration of pop-culture held in Delhi last year.

Aerowin didn’t just stop there; she came to life and visited schools to meet with children. Aerowin conducted interactive conversations to guide children on how to push the adults to do their bit against pollution.

The to-do-list

As for the guidelines, the suggestions for adults included carpooling to work, planting a tree, getting pollution checks done regularly, and not burning garbage.

Aerowin even empowered children to form local clubs in their localities to help ensure adults were doing their part, said the media release issued by Otrivin.

Bineet Jain, Pain & Respiratory Lead – Area Marketing ISC, Haleon, said, “Otrivin’s Actions to Breathe Cleaner initiative aims to reduce the health impact of air pollution by providing easy-to-adopt actions that enable people to take control. The Pollution Superhero is one such part of the initiative to raise awareness and bring about impactful change.”
