On the sidelines of the G7 meeting in southern Italy on Thursday, the United States and Ukraine presidents signed a document outlining Washington’s long-term security alliance with Kiev.
The bilateral agreement, which was signed by US President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, follows the conclusion of similar long-term security arrangements with Kiev by 15 other countries, including Germany, France, and Britain.
The pact essentially covers all forms of cooperation between the two countries, including the sharing of military hardware, training, and exercises.
In order to join NATO, Ukraine must simultaneously undertake a number of changes in the fields of justice, law enforcement, and combating corruption, as well as in its military capabilities and institutions.
