At least 28 people lost their lives, and several others were injured in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22.
The incident occurred when a group of four terrorists opened fire on a gathering of tourists at the Baisaran meadow, a popular spot near Pahalgam in the Anantnag district.
Indian authorities have confirmed the incident as a terrorist attack. The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy group of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility.
This marks the deadliest civilian attack in the Kashmir Valley since the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.
Pahalgam, known for its stunning landscapes and as a base for the annual Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage, was experiencing a surge in tourism at the time of the attack.
