Qatar, like the other GCC countries, hosts a large population of Indian workers and the expats settled in the country have taken great pride in the hugely successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup by Qatar.
Bihar Social Forum (BSF), an organisation of Indian expatriates in Qatar from Bihar, held its annual meet-and-greet programme recently to celebrate the grand success of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and to introduce its new management committee for 2023. The meet was held at Kanjani Hall, IICC Building, in Al Thumama.
An associate organisation (AO) of the Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) under the aegis of the Embassy of India in Qatar, the BSF was founded by Irfan Ansari and Imtiyaz Ahmad three years ago under the guidance and support of Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) and the Indian Embassy in Qatar. The aim was to provide help and support to Bihar community members in need.
ICBF Acting President Vinod Nair and ICBF General Secretary Sabith Sahir were the chief guests at the event, according to a media release from Bihar Social Forum-Qatar.
‘Best World Cup’
BSF Founder Irfan Ansari congratulated Qatar for successfully hosting FIFA World Cup. “It was the best ever World Cup in the history of FIFA,” he said, while taking the occasion to introduce Satyendra Pathak, a senior journalist with a Doha-based English newspaper, as the president of the BSF management committee for the 2023 session.
Speaking on the occasion, ICBF Acting President Vinod Nair praised BSF for its activities to support the members of the Bihar community in need. “I am quite impressed by the activities of BSF, and this is the reason for the organisation’s phenomenal growth in the last three years,” he noted.
Sabith Sahir congratulated the BSF founder and management committee members for selecting Satyendra Pathak as the new president of the organisation.
Addressing BSF members on the occasion Pathak said, “Our prime and foremost priority will always remain to help and support Bihar community members, especially the large number of workers engaged with various development projects in Qatar. Besides, we will also aim to reach out to families from Bihar so that they have a platform to celebrate their art, culture, festivals, and traditional functions together.”
