A panel of four pictures of veteran photojournalist NK Sareen, a former Photo Editor at Expanse International, will be on display at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) at Nariman Point in Mumbai.
Sareen’s works will be a part of the group show titled ‘City of Joy – Kolkata’, slated to be inaugurated by the Chairman of NCPA, Khushroo N. Santook, on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 4pm.
One of Sareen’s pictures will be on display in a large 3 feet by 5 feet size while the others will be in normal 24 x 36-inch size.
The work of Sareen – he is also a NewsPorter columnist – has earlier been exhibited at the Kala Ghoda Art Festival, also in Mumbai, and at Alliance Francoise, a gallery run by the French Embassy in Delhi.
In his column in The NewsPorter, titled ‘Picture Talk’, Sareen shines a light on some of the pictures of personalities he has clicked over the years, with a touch of nostalgia.
Meanwhile, a very old and prominent art gallery in Delhi is preparing to host a solo show of NK Sareen’s work with the launch of a book of his pictures.
About NCPA
The huge and elegant NCPA complex in Mumbai houses Jamshed Bhabha Theatre for Large Operas, Tata Theater for Indian classical concerts, Western Chamber Music and Theatre, Experimental Theatre, Godrej Dance Theatre, and Little Theatre.
Piramal Art Gallery was developed by NCPA with the help of a generous donation from Dilip Piramal. It is one of the only galleries of its kind in India to exhibit the works of leading Indian and international photographers, as well as other forms of visual art.
The gallery was opened in 1988 with Judith Mara Gutman’s collection on the History of Indian Photography.
