In a clear sign of the hugely successful growth story of the country, India produced a new billionaire every 5 days in 2023, with Indians owning a wealth of more than Rs1,000 crore growing by 220 entities in 2024, according to the latest Hurun India Rich List.
The number of billionaires in India has gone up from 871 in 2023 to 1,008 in 2024.
Also, Gautam Adani and family, with wealth recorded at Rs 11,61,800 crore, replaced Mukesh Ambani and family on the top of the Hurun India Rich List.
Mukesh Ambani and family’s wealth was recorded at Rs 10,14,700 crore, followed by Shiv Nadar & family (Rs 3,14,000 crore); Cyrus S Poonawalla & family (Rs 2,89,800 crore); Dilip Shanghvi (Rs 2,49,900 crore); Kumara Mangalam Birla and family (Rs 2,35,200 crore); Gopichand Hinduja and family (Rs 1,92,700 crore); Radhakrishnan Damani and family (Rs 1,90,900 crore); Aziz Premji and family (Rs 1,90,700 crore); and Niraj Bajaj and family (Rs 1,62,800 crore).
The Hurun India Rich List shares several interesting facets including where the maximum number of India’s richest are based: This list is topped by Mumbai (386), followed by Delhi (217), Hyderabad (104), Bengaluru (100), and Chennai (82).
From the film industry, the list mentions Shah Rukh as leading the ladder at Rs 7,300 crore, followed by Juhi Chawla and family (Rs 4,600 crore); Hrithik Roshan (Rs 2,000 crore); Amitabh Bachchan and family (Rs 1,600 crore); and Karan Johar (Rs 1,400 crore).
