Cash-strapped social media company Koo has closed its doors following several months of fruitless talks with potential purchasers.
Koo was once seen as a domestic competitor to global internet behemoth X (previously Twitter).
On Wednesday, Co-founder Mayank Bidawatka stated on LinkedIn that the online business, which has a yellow bird as its emblem, has approached media outlets and internet corporations to buy it but the conversations did not proceed as planned.
Koo was an Indian microblogging and social networking service, owned by Bangalore-based Bombinate Technologies, co-founded by entrepreneurs Aprameya Radhakrishna and Mayank Bidawatka.
The app was launched in early 2020. It won the government’s Atmanirbhar App Innovation Challenge which selected the best apps from some 7,000 entries nationwide.
