Modi’s party loses majority but NDA set to form govt

Narendra Modi is set to continue governing for a third term of five years.


It was a setback for the ruling BJP as it lost its parliamentary majority, though the ruling coalition, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) emerged victorious.

Modi wrote on the social media platform X on Tuesday evening that the people of the country had “expressed their confidence in his ruling coalition for the third time in a row”.

Modi is set to continue governing for a third term of five years.

The stock market, meanwhile, suffered its worst losses in four years in reaction to Modi’s setback.
