Manu Bhaker’s triumph started the country’s medal count at the Paris Olympics
History was made as 22-year-old shooter Manu Bhaker became the first Indian to win a medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 when she took home the bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol final at the games.
Bhaker also achieved a first for India as a female shooter by winning an Olympic medal.
For most of the competition, Bhaker stayed in the top three thanks to her extraordinary skill and poise. Going into the last shot, she led by 0.1 points in second place but eventually dropped to third, earning the bronze medal.
India hopes to break its previous record of seven medals from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics with this triumph, which started the country’s medal count at the Paris Olympics.
