It turned out to be a day of horror for a family on a picnic on Sunday, as they were swept away in a waterfall beneath the Bhushi Dam in Lonavala, near Pune, including a recently married couple.
The family, residents of Sayyad Nagar area in Pune’s Hadapsar neighbourhood, lost four members, including three children. However, the couple was saved and is still in the hospital, a local reported on Monday.
The couple and other members of the extended family reportedly took a chartered bus early on Sunday morning to Lonavala for the picnic, according to the police.
According to reports, up to 19 family members were enjoying a picnic at the well-known tourist attraction when the incident occurred.
