A total of 211 passengers and 18 crew were on board
It was a flight of horror for passengers on board a Singapore Airlines flight from London to Singapore as the plane encountered severe turbulence.
A total of 211 passengers and 18 crew were on board.
The turbulence was so severe it led to the death of one person while more than 70 people were injured.
According to a post on the Singapore Airlines Facebook page, the Boeing 777-300ER plane diverted to Bangkok following the turbulence.
The flight landed in the Thai capital at 3:45 p.m. local time (4:45 a.m. ET) Tuesday.
In meteorology, clear-air turbulence (CAT) is the turbulent movement of air masses in the absence of any visual clues, such as clouds, and is caused when bodies of air moving at widely different speeds meet.
CAT can be hazardous to the comfort, and occasionally the safety, of air travellers.
